If you want a real Parisian experience, there’s no better way to do it than to live like a Parisian. And where better to do that than one of the City’s most enchanting neighbourhoods – Montmartre? But there’s Montmartre and Montmartre. Those in the know go to Les Abbesses. It’s not right up on La Butte next to the Sacré Coeur with all the tourists, nor is it down with all the nightlife in Pigalle. Les Abbesses is a bustling little quartier, half way between Le Moulin de La Galette and Le Moulin Rouge, that is lively and smart, with fashionable bars, restaurants and shops. Some say it is becoming too “bobo” – bourgeois bohemian - but it still retains that “je ne sais quoi” of a real old Parisian quartier.

Situated on the second floor of a five storey, nineteenth century building in Rue Durantin, Abbesses Apartment was our home in Paris until we moved to Normandy last year. It is the perfect place for exploring not just Montmartre, but the whole of Paris. Completely renovated in 2008 it combines the typical charm of Montmartre (the floors tend to slope and the windows are a bit crooked) with all modern conveniences and provides comfort and convenience for two.
