What some of our guests have said: We came to Paris for two weeks at the end of May and had a wonderful time. The Rue Durantin apartment is really well placed for sightseeing and there’s lots going on in the area of Abbesses. We walked up to the Sacré Coeur – where the view over Paris is stunning. The owner, who met us with the keys, spoke really good English and had left a guide with local information and restaurant suggestions that made us feel like we were almost locals. With so many places to eat out, we never actually cooked, but the kitchen was really smart and well equipped. We hope to be back next year. I had to come to Paris for a month and thought I’d try for something more personal than a hotel chain. I had to get to La Defence easily but fancied staying in a really “Parisian” arrondissement if that makes any sense. A colleague suggested that 18th is now pretty trendy so that’s how I ended up in Rue Durantin. I was a bit frightened when I first got into the building – the staircase is typically French - pretty dilapidated and gloomy - but once I got in the apartment my fears disappeared. It was just want I needed. The money I saved from my hotel allowance meant I could go a bit mad in the evenings, though sadly I never got to go to the Moulin Rouge. Next time maybe. Very good address, that I got from a friend. Going to Paris Nord Exhibition Centre every day was a journey, but coming home to the apartment made it worthwhile. Much better than a hotel chain, though the no – smoking rule is boring (I know I should give up but…). |
